What is LED?

Continuing its fast development as the future of lighting world, LED is composed of the capital letters of Light Emitting Diode. LED is a semiconductor circuit element which transforms electric power to light.

With the researches on semiconductors that gained speed in 1950s following the electromagnetic radiation discovered in the early 1900s, the first LED to emit visible red light was produced and patented in 1962. The LED technology, which came into our lives as a red light appearing on the radio when it’s turned on in old times, now illuminates our world after 50 years. This little red light evolved, changed color, became stronger, and now started to illuminate our lives by wrapping itself in white and to bring color to our environment by turning into red, blue and green.

Luminaries with LED offer successful results with high light efficiency, low energy consumption, long life, better level of light direction, low ultraviolet and infrared radiation, higher color rendering, different color rendering, In addition to creating millions of colors, LED sources can provide white light in various color temperatures.
Starting to be a part of our lives more and more with advantages it offers for conventional light sources, LED technology based lighting systems offers numerous alternatives and advantages for the ones wishing to create differences with a glamorous environment and to bring a fascinating atmosphere to the places used.
The advantages of LED technology:
Thanks to its energy efficiency, it provides the same light power as the other conventional equipment but with smaller power and lowers the lighting costs significantly,
It has a quite long life with a value of 50.000 hour/life without requiring maintenance compared to the conventional systems,
There is no need for maintenance and lamp replacement,
It is very suitable for automation applications
It is dimmable
It allows the LED light to be emitted in any color requested and not change color during dimming.
It offers numerous alternatives for coloring of places with various colors and for applications of color changing,
It is significantly smaller compared to traditional light sources and offers form flexibility advantage
Color rendering may reach up to more than 95%.
It does not age the objects to which its light is directed as it emits UV and does not carry heat with its light,
It is resistant to shock and vibration
Although its first purchase cost may be little higher, LED offers a more economical solution in the medium and long term, compared to the lighting systems with conventional lamps, when correct project is followed.
LAMP 83 project group perceptibly presents the advantages of LED systems by calculating ‘Payback’ according to the field where the lighting work will be carried out.
